back <<Patrician Charm and Modern Hospitality
After its construction between 1770 and 1772, the patrician’s palace served for a long time as the residence of the family of Eberhard Heinrich Löhr, respectable and well-known councilman and banker in Leipzig. Already then the unusual building constituted the social centre of the town due to the exclusive events and exhibitions taking place there.
In 1886, the family sold the house. After its rebuilding it reopened as “Hotel Fürstenhof” in 1889. In the aftermath of the Second World War, under the regime of the German Democratic Republic, the hotel was re-named “Hotel International” and served as a demonstrative property under the management of the “Interhotel” group. Following the German reunification, the building was substantially renovated and reopened as a luxury hotel in 1994.
